General Description

Niagara County Community College has a need for part time Anthropology instructors to teach introductory courses in Anthropology within the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences division.

These classes are typically three lecture hours per week during days and/or evenings. They can be face to face, face to face enhanced with a Zoom option, asynchronous online, blended synchronous online on Zoom, hyflex (face-to-face, synchronous Zoom, and asynchronous online), and hybrid (in-person and online).

Classes are held on the NCCC’s main campus in Sanborn, NY, as well as the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute in Niagara Falls, NY. Applicants must be able to attend in-person meetings, professional development, and other obligations on the Sanborn campus even if teaching online or at NFCI .

Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $884 per lecture hour/$792 per lab hour.

In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, Niagara County Community College will accept applications on a continuous basis. Typical Work Activities

• Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon (face-to-face, face-to-face with Zoom option, hyflex, hybrid, blended, or online)

• Hold office hours (in person or virtual as appropriate)

• Track attendance

• Complete census reports

• Report assessment of student learning outcomes at the conclusion of the semester

• Report grades at the conclusion of the semester

Essential Functions

Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions. .

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Anthropology or related field. Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials.

Desirable Qualifications

  • ABD or Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field;

  • Prior teaching experience at the college level; and experience with classroom technologies.

  • Experience with a learning management system such as D2L Brightspace.

  • Online teaching experience, particularly with formal training based on OSCQR through SUNY Online or a SUNY campus.

  • Evidence of successful teaching of non-traditional students.
