Robert Half Attorney/Lawyer in San Rafael, California

Description

Essential Functions:

  • Provide holistic, community-centered legal services in eviction defense, habitability, and tenants' rights under the supervision of the Managing Attorney.

  • Conduct client interviews, perform factual analysis, and conduct legal research.

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of eviction defense matters.

  • Engage in community education and off-site outreach.

  • Negotiate with landlords, property management companies, and opposing counsel to maintain housing stability for clients facing eviction.

  • Represent clients at hearings and pursue affirmative litigation, including multi-plaintiff and class actions, as needed.

  • Supervise and train volunteer attorneys, legal assistants, interns, and non-attorney volunteers.

  • Coordinate with staff to ensure superior legal services for clients.

  • Maintain accurate client and case data for tracking and reporting.

  • Provide data to support organizational reporting requirements.

  • Meet ethical standards as set by the State Bar of California.

  • Support organizational development and fundraising as necessary.

  • Connect with community partners to facilitate clients’ access to resources.

  • Complete additional mission-aligned tasks as required by leadership.

    Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Legal Aid of Marin.

  • Member in good standing with the California State Bar.

  • Experience working with marginalized communities, including immigrants, BIPOC individuals, seniors, people with disabilities, people experiencing poverty, and those facing housing instability.

  • Commitment to client-centered lawyering, diversity, and uplifting marginalized communities.

  • Experience or interest in housing law.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Willingness to receive feedback, follow directives, and address areas for professional growth.

  • Positive collaboration with external partners, stakeholders, and the public.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

  • Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and car insurance.

  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
