BeiGene Senior Director, Business Transformation in San Mateo, California

General Description:

Responsible for driving transformation initiatives across the enterprise to enhance productivity, competitiveness, and adaptability to evolving market conditions. This involves analyzing current processes, technologies, and strategies, and developing transformation plans with a focus on financial and operational efficiency, operating model enhancements, and capability building. The incumbent will collaborate with key stakeholders to align objectives and communicate the vision for change throughout the organization. As a Business Transformation Senior Director, you will also translate the vision to an implementation plan, oversee the execution of these plans, monitor progress, mitigate risks, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure successful implementation. Success in this role is leading the company towards achieving its strategic objectives and staying agile in a rapidly changing business landscape.

Responsibilities require an understanding of business processes and outcomes and the ability to identify a pragmatic and timely approach for improvement. You must have excellent communication skills as you interact with a wide cross-section of people to change the way a business functions.

The incumbent will provide leadership, strategic direction, and project management to the overall program. Responsibilities include innovating and taking ideas from concept to implementation and influencing executives and other key decision makers by leveraging experience and logical approach to problem solving. In addition, the incumbent will lead through influence and rolling-up your sleeves in working with cross functional stakeholders in a matrixed environment.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Leads the development and alignment of initiatives to strategic objectives. Develop and lead cross-functional teams in brainstorming new processes and approaches, creating prototypes, proposed process improvement measures, or new capabilities for enterprise growth.

  • Plan, manage and coordinate activities to ensure that business change is robustly managed such that implementation is effective and timely and drives high business value.

  • Engage in thought-partnership with functional business unit leaders to accelerate business performance initiatives and create Lean processes.

  • Provide consultative advice and support to drive change management initiatives and associated communication programs

  • Creates and manages project work plans, including tasks, phases, dependencies, critical paths, resource needs.

  • Identifies, documents, manages/prioritizes, and resolves/mitigates project issues and risks. Ensures delivery of and maximizes project business benefits/return on investment.

  • Identifies, monitors and communicates project status, milestones and deliverables, ensuring successful delivery.

  • Monitors project deliverable quality.

  • Adjusts and adapts to the rolling, day-to-day changes that transpire in the running of large projects.

  • Effectively communicate in verbal and written venues to Executive leaders to present strategic opportunities, align to strategy/goals/objectives, define business cases, report status and develop strategic roadmaps that clearly articulate the journey toward improved process or business goals.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan and oversee the execution of transformation projects, including setting goals, defining project scopes, allocating resources, managing timelines, and communicating progress/milestones.

  • Change Management: Lead and facilitate change management efforts by ensuring all stakeholders are engaged, informed, and supported throughout the transformation process.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive business transformation strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing business processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to streamline operations and increase efficiency.

  • Data Analysis: Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions, monitor progress, and measure the success of transformation efforts.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and obstacles to transformation success, develop mitigation strategies, and adapt plans as needed.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments and teams to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the transformation process.

  • Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance benchmarks to track the impact of transformation initiatives.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation related to transformation projects and progress.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS with 12+ years of Business Operations, Consulting/Strategy, or Program Management experience in the healthcare sector or an MA/MA/MBA with 8 plus years of experience or a PhD/PharmD/MD with 6+ years of experience in the healthcare sector.

  • The successful candidate will have proven experience as a business transformation, program or change leader at an enterprise level. Experience working with C-Suite executives.

  • S/he will have strong program management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

  • Must be decisive, exercise good judgment in decisions, organized and with the ability to prioritize a large workload.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.

  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to inspire and motivate teams during periods of change.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in business transformation.

  • Demonstrated financial acumen.

  • Understanding and adherence to Project Management methodologies.

  • Given the scale and globality of BeiGene, s/he is also someone who has worked cross culturally and understands how to harmonize solutions across regions while still providing flexibility for localization.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset, takes initiative, and balances being a collaborative team player with an assertive get things done attitude to drive projects forward.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience in Lean Six Sigma methodology a plus.

Computer Skills:

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Concur, Zoom, Excel.
