Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in managing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems or shops, preferably in an academic or large institutional setting.

  • Experience with facilities management and maintenance operations.

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

  • Experience in implementing corrective and preventive maintenance strategies.

  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulatory compliance related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.

  • Certified Energy Manager ( CEM ), or other relevant certifications.

  • Facility Management Professional ( FMP ), Certified Facility Manager ( CFM ) or Certified Education Facilities Professional ( CEFP )

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in MEP management, preferably in a university setting.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale MEP projects and maintenance programs.

  • Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems ( CMMS ) and Building Management Systems ( BMS ).

Job Description

Directs the activities of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing ( MEP ), as well as the integrated building automation and fire protection system shops. Overall responsible for deliverables associated with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, building automation systems, fire protection systems, low voltage electrical systems, and plumbing systems for the university campus. Develops, implements, and maintains an effective preventive maintenance (PM) program, minimizing life-cycle costs, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring system service availability and reliability. Coordinates with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other internal stakeholders within Facilities to ensure compliance with established codes, standards, processes, and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Supervise and monitor activities of Facilities Operations MEP Shop Supervisors.

  • Provide management of maintenance and repair activities for MEP projects throughout campus.

  • Review project plans and related documents for content accuracy, compliance with University Standards, and various codes and regulations.

  • Manage PM program for MEP trades to maximize facilities asset lifecycle and avoid unplanned downtimes.

  • Assist director in assessing building MEP systems for capital renewal and major repair and replacement initiatives.
