  • Knowledge of:food preparation techniques.

  • Skills in:interacting effectively with co-workers, parents, and children; use of kitchen equipment.

  • Ability to:read recipes, memos, special diet information, use scales, adjust recipes, read policy books, and time sheets; complete meal count sheets and work orders; count meals.

  • Requires current food handlers certification, record of TB test within past year.

CACFP experience and current Certified Food Manager certification

Job Description

Responsible for the implementation of the food service program for the Child

Development Center through food preparation service, compliance of the Child and Adult Care Food Program ( CACFP ) health, sanitation and safety codes, and clean-up of the kitchen.

Job Duties

  • Wash, measure, and prepare foods for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack for enrolled children according to Certified Food Manager and CACFP standards.

  • Ensures all prepared meals match daily menu.

  • Ensures meals are served on time and are safe for consumption by children ranging in age 1-8 years.

  • Documents weekly inventory and provides accurate food and kitchen supply order, within budget parameters, to vendor each week.

  • Receives and inventory weekly food deliveries.

  • Creates 2-month cycle menu that meets all CACFP requirements.

  • Prepares entrees using standardized recipes to ensure adherence of CACFP regulations for serving sizes.

  • Follows all CACFP documentation and meal preparation requirements.

  • Demonstrates and explains requirements of CACFP , kitchen operations, and certified Food Manager knowledge to train kitchen support staff and interns.

  • Follows health and safety regulations during clean up and food storage.

  • Follows the CDC and TXST policies regarding attendance and requests for leave and compensatory/overtime.

  • Completes all CACFP trainings to become familiar and proficient in all aspects of CACFP requirements for meal preparation and documentation.

  • Maintains all certifications as required by supervisor.

  • Reports kitchen needs and thefts to CDC administration in timely manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information to Applicants

This is a benefited position at 75% FTE . Successful candidate will work 30 hours per week.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7-1 and Wednesday 6:30 – 12:30 (receives early morning food delivery.) All employees must complete and clear fingerprint and background check for licensed childcare facilities.
