Bio-Techne Senior Scientist, R&D in San Marcos, California

Bio-Techne’s Diagnostics Division has been providing essential products to the in vitro diagnostics industry for over 40 years. We supply quality controls and reagents for clinical laboratory and point-of-care testing, along with custom products to other companies serving the IVD market.

We seek an In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) Development Senior Scientist who integrates rigorous scientific principles, actionable innovative ideas and a passion to drive advancement of clinical diagnostics to join our development team. You will work within a highly dynamic group in collaboration with multiple disciplines to develop novel products including calibrators, controls, and immunoassays.

Compensation range for this role is $91,000 - $170,500 + annual bonus plan and benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute and analyze investigational experiments and product development studies for both new and existing products.

  • Develop and validate test methods to assess materials and processes.

  • Draft study protocols and reports to support regulatory submissions.

  • Transfer product design to Manufacturing and Operations through specifications, SOPs, and training.

  • Identify potential product and process improvements.

  • Support Quality Control through technical investigations.

  • Contribute to product and process risk assessments.

  • Bioconjugation experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to show initiative and to perform in a multi-task environment.

  • Good interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with personnel of all levels.

  • Ability to perform in a GMP and GLP environment. Knowledge of QSR and ISO.

  • Familiarity with biohazardous material handling and chemical safety procedures.

  • Detail oriented.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Science, or related field preferred with 10+ years’ work experience in R&D In Vitro diagnostics, medical device, pharmaceutical or related industry required.

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry preferred with 5+ years of industry experience.
