Position Summary

We’re hiring a full-time Materials Testing Technician to join our growing team. This position will be part of the Materials Development Team and will be playing a key role within the R&D group by testing super absorbent polymer materials for a consumer product. In this role, you will be responsible for bench top testing, maintain the testing record with at most accuracy, and calibrate equipment in the Materials Lab. Any previous wet lab experience is highly desirable. Ideal candidates will be detail oriented, well organized, and have eagerness to learn materials development and R&D testing. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for materials laboratory routine testing of finished products.

  • Responsible for carrying out testing as per the instructions provided by scientists or researchers.

  • Ability to accurately measure weight, basic calculation as per standard method.

  • Follow SOPs to test materials and optimize product specification.

  • Maintain a detailed record of all working data daily basis in an electronic notebook for immediate reference.

  • Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain chemical processing equipment.

  • Confer with engineering and other technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or equipment issues, malfunctions, incomplete test data, and interpretation.

  • May participate in the development, maintenance, and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.

  • Routinely interface with and support the Materials Team for collaboration.

  • Other related duties may be assigned.

     

    Qualifications 

     

  • Must have at least Associate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or a related discipline. Bachelors of science degree is preferred. 

  • One to two years of experience in the fast based biotechnology industry is highly desired. 

  • Experience working with chemicals or materials in a technical production capacity and testing capacity would be nice to have.

  • Having experience preparing lab samples and testing raw materials would be highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with basic wet chemistry, including density, moisture analysis, pH, viscosity, balance, and centrifuge, will be preferred. 

  • Must be detail-oriented and well-organized. 

  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization of the laboratory.

  • Interest in sustainable technologies and the biotechnology industry

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to move up to 40 lbs of material regularly.
