Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico GENERAL ACCOUNTANT in San Juan, Puerto Rico

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provide analysis of real fund accounts keeping account balances up to date. Make reports, review changes in deposits and payments to suppliers. Monitor the results of the organization and the flow of funds, taking into account at all times the mission and the values of BGCPR.

TASKS AND ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for generating, reviewing and presenting the financial reports to the Finance Director as defined in the process, at this time on the 15th the is discussed with the Finance Director and President (e) and on the 15th of each month final results to the different committees with reports ready as predefined.

  • Verify bank accounts weekly, reviewing changes in deposits and payments to suppliers.

  • Monitor the implementation of necessary changes as presented by the findings of the internal and/or external audit when they arise. Responsible for updating the general ledger with audit adjustments as indicated and/or communicated.

  • Ensure close communication on the MIP platform and/or any other system used to process accounting data and report to management.

  • Ensure the best practices in the comptroller.

  • Determine the payments that will be made weekly, ensuring that the cash flow is adequate for the organization and inform the Finance Director of any risk to inform the President and make recommendations.

  • Analyze procedures, create and implement processes conducive to increasing the productivity of the positions supervised.

  • Coordinate and provide the external auditors with the information required during their intervention.

  • Make journal entries necessary to maintain an analysis of actual accounts (cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, physical plant and equipment, accumulated depreciation, accounts payable, accrued expenses, taxes payable, long-term debt, deferred income, etc.). Maintains up-to-date account analysis of the “Balance Sheet”.

  • Perform bank reconciliations of the checkbooks under her charge and supervises and approves the bank reconciliations assigned to the Organization's accountants.

  • Develop and evaluate that the employees under your charge respond effectively to departmental objectives.

  • Order and provide the external auditors with the information required during their intervention.

  • Register and Evaluate BGCPR Investments.

  • Other tasks for purposes that are required by the Finance Director, CEO, PRESIDENT and Board of Directors BGCPR.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority and skill of personnel.

  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

  • Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

  • Identify the developmental needs of others, developing formal educational or training initiatives, such as, coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.

  • Confer with personnel, to coordinate work activities, resolve employee grievances, or identify and review resources needed.

  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules

  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.

    EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or related field.

  • At least five (5) years of experience in related field.

  • Economics and Accounting — Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.

  • Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Law and Government — Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.

  • Analyzing Data or Information — Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.

  • Processing Information — Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.

  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships — Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
