If so, Disability & Leave Services (DLS) is looking for an experienced Vendor Management (VM) Specialist to join our team.

Amazon’s Disability and Leave Services (DLS) team is looking for a motivated VM Specialist to join the team that owns the relationships with a growing list of vendors worldwide. The ideal candidate will utilize a wide range of tactical skills and partner with Service Delivery, Expansions, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and other teams to deliver results. This individual will innovate with vendors on behalf of customers and achieve cost-efficient long-term growth. They will build out the portfolio of vendors who can scale with Amazon and drive exceptional vendor performance.

The VM Specialist is responsible for developing vendor relationships, partnering with procurement and legal to negotiate contracts, expanding vendor selection, onboarding vendors onto Amazon’s systems, and troubleshooting operational issues as they arise. This individual is also responsible for monthly budget monitoring, analysis of financial results, bill payment, and partnering with service owners on strategies to decrease costs. The VM Specialist will have strong analytical skills and exhibit high business judgment based on data and outcomes. They have strong relationship management skills. They excel in diving deep. This individual must be a critical thinker who can formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, create well-structured narratives, and be able to influence others. The VM Specialist has strong project management skills, an attention to detail, and the ability to develop routine business operations mechanisms, without following a set playbook. They are a seasoned problem solver, with experience delivering results under tight deadlines in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with Procurement and others to source new vendors.

• Partner with Legal and Procurement to get contracts signed.

• Onboard new vendors.

• Manage vendor performance against budget, prepare budget-to-actual analyses, identify risks to budget and partner with Finance and Service Delivery on strategic plans.

• Provide ad hoc and regularly scheduled updates to senior leadership.

• Act as a subject matter expert on contract terms for Service Delivery, customers, and senior leaders.

• Effectively communicate through high-quality written and verbal communications.

• Obtain a deep understanding of DLS businesses.

• Troubleshoot issues with vendor performance as needed.

• Experience managing vendor performance.

• Experience negotiating contracts.

• Strong customer and employee obsession.

• Experience working on a global, fast-paced, matrixed, cross-functional team.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view on complicated issues in clear, concise communications (written and verbal).

• Track record of managing multiple deliverables simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.

• Demonstrated high quality judgement and decision-making skills.

• Demonstrated ability to problem solve and find creative ways to optimize performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications

  • 3+ years professional experience in Vendor Management, Finance, Procurement, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

  • Experience using data and metrics for continuous improvement.

  • Skilled using Excel to analyze large data sets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in conducting investigative work, including claimant, witness, and target employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation

  • Experience developing policies and supporting documentation

  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive employee information and adherence to strict confidentiality standards

  • HR experience or exposure to HR processes and practices

  • Exceptional project management skills, driving and adhering to deadlines, managing up and laterally.

  • Experience driving alignment with cross-functional teams

  • Experience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience navigating ambiguous situations.
