Then this is your opportunity to build the next generation of Amazon mobile first Shopping Experiences. Your work will be seen by billions of shoppers and will be featured throughout the Amazon mobile app. Inspire is Amazon's mobile only discovery, browse, and social shopping experience, and you will play a critical role in the architecture of backend services, implementing new features for Amazon customers, and work across product and personalization teams to bring Amazon inspirational and social shopping into the future.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer on the Inspire and Amazon Native Player (ANP) team you build new features for the Amazon mobile app such as: Liking/Hearting Content, Sharing, and Follows for the creators of content. You integrate personalization and recommendation algorithms from our industry leading personalization team. When you need to think strategically you are part of the team that envisions the future of inspirational and social shopping, and you develop technical and architectural roadmaps to achieve new experiences for navigating content (videos) and products.

About the team

The Inspire team aims to make Amazon Earth’s most loved destination for recreational shopping and serendipitous discovery, where every customer finds a fun, visually engaging, and personalized way to shop any time they visit our store. We also aspire to give creators a place to contribute to a community, express their creativity, and where applicable, build a business. Today we do this with Inspire, a feed of shoppable videos and photos personalized in real time based on each customer’s shopping history, interests, and engagement.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
