Nuveen Investments TFI Research Analyst in San Francisco, California

Nuveen Investment’s Leveraged Finance team is seeking to hire an analyst to evaluate the full capital structure of convertible bond issuers, the majority of whom are in the technology and healthcare sectors.

The Leveraged Finance platform at Nuveen applies a collaborative and team-based approach to rigorous fundamental underwriting across the capital structure and risk spectrum. The team’s philosophy is to invest, both long and short, where relative value dislocations and event driven catalysts exist. Investment strategies include hedge funds, separately managed accounts, comingled strategies and sub-advisory mandates for both retail and institutional clients, including Nuveen’s parent company, TIAA-CREF.

This analyst will be dedicated to a multi-strategy credit hedge fund that includes convertible arbitrage, long/short credit, and CLO investments.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assume primary coverage for convertible bond investments, both new issues and secondary opportunities.

  • Make investment recommendations and have real-time views on companies, including their credit quality and equity valuation.

  • Actively monitor investments and take predictive approach to managing risk exposures.

  • Engage with management teams regularly to discuss business conditions and potential catalysts

  • Monitor, research and analyze relevant economic, industry, and company data and market trends, preparing reports and developing models to support investment decisions.

  • Contributes to all formal reports and research processes (internal ratings, recommendation lists, watch lists, etc.) that enable the efficient and transparent oversight of the coverage universe.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Base Pay Range: $118,100/yr. - $180,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
