Uber Senior Manager, Claims Analytics in San Francisco, California

About the Role

Insurance is a uniquely strategic function at Uber and this is a very different role than other traditional actuarial leadership roles. We are currently searching for an actuarial leader to manage the Claims Analytics function for Uber's insurance programs. In addition to the role's executive visibility, you'll be given the opportunity to provide insights and analyses on non-traditional risks using modern technology and state-of-the-art datasets. You'll be working with a sharp, motivated actuarial team in an exciting and fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the Claims Analytics team, executing on high impact business objectives while cultivating a culture of learning and development

  • Own the Claims Analytics roadmap that will bring continuous insights on the drivers of claims and the associated insurance costs

  • Collaborate with carrier partners, internal risk management, claims, legal, insurtech product and data science teams to explore the impact of cross functional initiatives to reduce insurance costs

  • Lead analyses that develop and report on KPIs for operational claims efficiency

  • Own the preparation and presentation of executive stakeholder communications

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Math, Statistics, Economics, or similar

  • FCAS + 8 years of relevant experience or ACAS + 10 years relevant experience, with at least 4 years in claims analytics roles

  • Actuarial experience in US commercial or personal auto insurance lines of business

  • Excellent Excel skills, proficient with SQL, and hands-on experience with a scripting language such as R or Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in exploratory data analysis on insurance claims

  • Proven track record of building and leading high performing actuarial teams

  • Motivation to dive into the details of analysis and learn complex topics from first principles and hands-on experience

  • Executive-level slide-building and presentation skills

  • Great communication and organization skills, ability to multitask and be a team player

  • Balance attention to detail with swift and practical execution

  • Drive to learn complex topics

  • Enthusiasm about Uber!

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
