Description

We are offering a collaborative opportunity for an Instructional Systems Designer in the Education sector, specifically within a University setting. The role is hybrid (1 day/week on-site) based in San Francisco, California, and offers a long term contract employment opportunity. As an Instructional Systems Designer, you will be instrumental in designing and developing online learning experiences, working closely with faculty and other instructional designers, and managing course development projects.

Responsibilities:

• Develop faculty training programs and conduct consultations for faculty development.

• Collaborate with faculty and other instructional designers to align program and course outcomes with assessment, and design engaging, inclusive learning content and activities.

• Manage or support the management of course development processes to ensure timely delivery of courses, including conducting faculty consultations.

• Contribute to the development of course content within the Learning Management System.

• Oversee the production and integration of multimedia course content.

• Review courses against university quality and compliance standards.

• Facilitate peer-to-peer faculty workshops, lunch and learns, and teaching and educational technology intensives.

• Develop and publish articles and web content related to faculty development and instructional design.

• Leverage knowledge of instructional design principles including Backwards Design, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and accessible course design to enhance web-based courses.

• Apply proficiency in the use of Learning Management System (LMS) functionality, reporting, and course management.

• Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in collaboration and communication with others.

• Manage projects with a high level of organization and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles including Backwards Design, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and accessible course design.

  • Ability to understand, analyze and diagnose faculty, staff, and student needs and translate these needs into instructional solutions.

  • Proficiency in designing and developing engaging in-person and online learning activities and content.

  • Ability to enhance web-based courses with knowledge of best practices and e-learning principles.

  • Proficiency in the use of LMS functionality, reporting, and course management; Knowledge of Canvas LMS a plus.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage projects in a highly organized fashion with a high attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals.
