Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Regional Chief – San Francisco

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is one of twelve Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., (Federal Reserve System) constitute the nation’s central bank and acts as its operating arm in the nine western states and three U. S. territories. The mission of the Federal Reserve System is to promote low inflation, full employment and financial stability, and to provide services to financial institutions and the Treasury.

San Francisco is the headquarters of the Twelfth Federal Reserve District, which includes the nine western states—Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington—plus American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Of the twelve Federal Reserve Districts, the San Francisco District is the largest by geography and the size of its economy with Branch offices in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City and a processing center in Phoenix, which is an extension of the Los Angeles Branch. The mission of Police Services is to provide a safe and secure environment for its employees, tenants and guests, while safeguarding Federal Reserve Bank facilities, operations, and assets.

The Twelfth District Law Enforcement Division is comprised of three regional operational areas ( Central: San Francisco; Southern: Los Angeles and Phoenix; and Northern: Seattle and Salt Lake City). Each Regional Chief reports to the Assistant Vice President of Law Enforcement Operations.

Law enforcement officers employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco are authorized to conduct law enforcement activities subject to the provisions of the Federal Reserve System’s Uniform Regulations and policies and procedures issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities:

The Law Enforcement Regional Chief (Central) has oversight and directs law enforcement operations at the San Francisco office. Responsibilities include staff development, operations management, project management, risk management, administrative management, financial management, and emergency preparedness and response.

As a key leadership member of the Law Enforcement Group the Regional Chief position plays a critical role in implementing System, Bank and Division strategies and initiatives, supporting the mission and goals of the Bank and the Group, and serving as a source of strength to the Bank and the Law Enforcement community.

Key Attributes:

  • Typically, 7 or more years of people and operations management experience in law enforcement, military or armed security field or equivalent experience within FRS Police Services

  • Proven expertise communicating and building support for ideas and achieving results without the need for positional authority

  • Strategic thinking and tactical competency

  • Adeptness at managing issues and leading efforts to mitigate the impact of potential reputational threats to the Bank and Police Services

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task work, reprioritize and perform well under pressure.

Minimum Education/Training/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business Management or related field of study preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Base Salary Range: Min: $133,100 - Mid: $172,700 - Max: $212,500 (Location: San Francisco)

Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
