Jacobs Data Science and AI Intern in San Francisco, California
We’re looking for a motivated individual with experience with innovative artificial intelligence (AI), generative AI and machine learning (ML) to support AI solutions across the business for both government and private-sector clients. Based anywhere in the U.S. (remote), this internship offers hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and AI applications, providing the opportunity to work on real-world projects alongside experienced professionals.
The chosen candidate will become a member of the Digital and Data team at Jacobs, helping drive innovation in technical project work for our clients in collaboration with subject matter experts, technologists, engineers, data scientists, project managers, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical understanding for supporting AI, GenAI, and ML solution developments/deployments
Work with clients (internal and external) to understand business requirements
Support the documentation of technical specifications
Support research and development of new innovative AI and digital solutions
Investigation, support and maintenance of existing and new AI and digital tools/platforms/solutions
Collaborate with other sprint team members and management to facilitate project goals
Participate in knowledge sharing and learning across the businesses and domains
Currently pursuing or recently completed bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, or similar domain
0-1 years of experience with data science and AI
Working knowledge with AI, GenAI, ML tools/applications/solutions
OpenAI, Copilot Studio, Palantir Foundry/AIP, Open-Source, or similar
Working knowledge with scripting languages such as python, typescript, R, SQL or similar
Ability to travel as necessary to meet project and client requirements
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Quick learner and self-motivated
Proven ability to work within a collaborative team environment, excellent communication skills, and coordinate activities between program component
Preferred:
Degree focus in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, or similar domain
Experience with tools and platforms such as:
Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Palantir Foundry, Palantir AIP, AWS, Python, Power BI, GIS, and database technology (data lakes, vector database, etc.)
Experience with Geospatial data and software (Esri)
Experience with digital solutions, field-based data capture, and data management best practices
Experience with CAD design and engineering and/or construction related workflows
Experience with API’s along with transformations on structured/unstructured data
