Who will you be working with?

You will be a key player in directing daily production operations at our small, but growing, overhaul/repair facility located in San Fernando, CA. You will be working together with both hourly and salary personnel while building relationships with the materials, quality, engineering, and production team.

How You Will Make a Difference?

As a production supervisor, you will support the daily operations of the area to ensure reliability and consistency on the production floor. The Supervisor is responsible for safely leading a team to assemble products to Wabtec’s quality standards. The Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that his/her team is working safely, efficiently, and effectively, providing high-quality products and customer service to our customers and Wabtec’s stakeholders. This position requires working onsite to support production.

We are looking for someone who understands functional, business, and company-wide objectives. You will be expected to directly drive critical KPIs in safety, quality, and delivery of repair and overhaul services across multiple product lines, ensuring we meet our ambitious goals.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School graduate, or general education degree required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Three years minimum of experience as a manufacturing supervisor required.

  • Prior leadership experience in both union and non-union facilities.

  • In-depth knowledge of EHS, shop operations, customer service operations, manufacturing engineering, quality, materials, sourcing, and material logistics in a heavy manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to utilize lean, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability, improve culture, and influence teams.

  • Strong coaching and team engagement skills.

  • Solid understanding of operations and business financials, including shop functions, variance, and inventory management.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

What Will Your Typical Day Look Like?

  • Drive Operational Excellence: Utilize lean and continuous improvement methods to enhance safety, reliability, quality, cost efficiency, and variance.

  • Leadership and Development: Lead and develop your team, ensuring that they are motivated, engaged, and aligned with the company’s goals and values.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to optimize production, improve processes, and achieve long-term business objectives.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as production scheduling, engineering, purchasing, and quality to ensure seamless operations and optimized production strategies.

  • Lean Transformation: Lead the Lean Transformation initiatives across the site including production layout changes.

  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, company policies, and safety standards to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, listening to employee ideas, and implementing effective solutions.

Physical Demands of the Job:

  • Hands-On Involvement: Regular exposure to the shop floor, requiring the use of PPE.

  • Active Engagement: Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting as part of the hands-on learning and engagement process.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$60,700.00-$83,400.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com .
