ADP Sr. Data Engineer in San Dimas, California

ADP is hiring a Sr. Data Engineer.

In this role, you'll acquire, clean, and analyze large data sets and do exploratory analysis to understand our data and if it meets project requirements. It's more than digits and dials - you're making huge decisions that impact millions of customers.

Every day you'll work with multiple stakeholders to identify, design, develop and implement advanced analytics projects that track the consumer conversion funnel from start to end. You'll work with your team to provide, interpret, and predict necessary metrics for decision-making. You'll code with machine learning tools like Python, R, and Scala to synthesize millions of data sets into patterns that answer ad hoc requests and then use Tableau for data visualization.

To thrive in this career, you should know how to identify errors and reactively fix them. You'll need to have some formal education in quantitative analytics and know design patterns and data structures. You have the skills to leverage existing models or create new models using the technologies above. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

  • Participate effectively in relevant aspects of software development life cycle (SDLC) including planning, construction, testing, reviews and demonstrations.

  • Collaborate with team to design, develop, test and refine deliverables.

  • Investigate and resolve application issues as needed

  • Package, configure and deploying software

  • Collaborate with clients, Product Managers, Architects, & Analysts to develop and review requirements & design.

  • Review and create system, software and functional design specifications that address requirements.

  • Write scripts/procedures/statements using DML and DDL (SQL statements) against databases such as Oracle, SQLServer, DB2, etc.

  • Design and develop multi-dimensional data models using star and snowflake schemas, denormalized data structures, slowly changing dimensions, etc.

  • Use data integration tools and techniques such as ETL (Extract Transform Load), CDC (Change Data Capture), etc.

  • Design and develop analytical data models to support static and ad-hoc reports, analytics and research, dashboards, data mining, trending, creation of key performance indicators, predictive modeling, etc.

  • Deliver BI content via portals, thin/thick clients, email, mobile, etc

  • Participate in project planning and release management.

  • Expected to work on multiple projects at a time.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

  • You'll have a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent.

  • 3-5 years of directly related experience in Data Analytics / Business Intelligence

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with SQL

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with data engineering including ETL and data warehousing

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with building semantic-layer business intelligence solutions including metrics, dashboards and data visualizations

  • Expert problem solving skills to rapidly create ad-hoc queries to answer complex business questions or debug data issues

  • Experience developing complex queries against normalized and dimensional data model

  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team, as well as independently

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Working experience with Tableau and Alteryx

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in education and experience with a major area of concentration in Computer Science, Engineering or Math

  • Working experience with AWS, DataBricks, Snowflake

  • Working experience with Python

  • Working experience with Cognos

  • Working experience in the HCM software or financial industry

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The compensation for this role is $61,800.00 - $165,330.00 / Year
