ICW Group Technical Product Manager II in San Diego, California

The Technical Product Manager II works cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. This role creates the roadmap for existing and new products and manages the technical team responsible for handling the product life cycle from inception to maintenance of business. This role requires a deep understanding of technology, insurance domain, and business needs to drive product innovation and success.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Oversees all planning and roadmap execution for highly visible insurance products and services.

  • Works with business leaders and executives to develop the technical product roadmap and drive execution, aligning with the company's overall vision and business goals.

  • Conducts market research, competitive analysis, and identifies opportunities, emerging trends, and customer pain points to shape the technical product strategy.

  • Evangelizes the roadmap constantly so all stakeholders are aligned and understand future direction and implications.

  • Leads two or more Product Scrum teams comprised of Technology professionals along with a dotted line of business professionals that work with business stakeholders.

  • Oversees the execution of product development cycle to meet requirements, demos the product with end users and optimizes the product features based on user feedback.

  • Serves as the subject matter expert for technical aspects of the product, providing guidance and expertise to internal teams and external stakeholders on product features, functionality, and capabilities.

  • Supports the growth and expansion of the Company’s insurance products and service offerings by identifying unmet needs of consumers, assesses the competitive landscape and opportunities for product development.

  • Drives product launches to ensure successful market adoption and customer satisfaction.

  • Develops funding proposals to ensure the continuous delivery of product features.

  • Liaises with other product managers to ensure effective and efficient delivery.

  • Ensures that product portfolio delivers on revenue, retention, and customer satisfaction targets.

Develops and manages product teams.

  • Provides strategic, and daily tactical direction to the team. Communicates Mission, Values, and other organization operating principles to direct and indirect reports.

  • Advocates for Agile values, principles, and practices within the organization.

  • Oversees recruitment and training of new employees.

  • Ensures all staff members receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards.

  • Oversees the performance management and development process for the direct reports.

  • Develops operational budget for the product teams.

  • Mentor and coach junior product managers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them grow and develop their skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 5 or more product team members and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations/goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required with a major or emphasis in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 12 years of related experience inclusive of managing technical teams, collecting business needs, and translating requirements to a technical audience. Experience in the insurance industry highly desired. Minimum 5 years of leadership as a Product Manager, Technical Product Manager, or similar role, with a track record of successfully launching and managing core insurance products or platforms.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Successful completion of a recognized product owner/management certification like CSPO or PSPO required. Certified Scrum Master required, SAFe preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Solid working knowledge of the Agile Scrum development process. Ability to lead, manage, coach and mentor a team. Must display organizational agility; able to develop and leverage effective relationships and networks; know how to get things done through both formal channels and informal networks. Technical background with a good understanding of software development processes, cloud technologies, APIs, and data integration. Competencies in analytical thinking and decision-making. Must be results driven. Ability to develop and present complex data or information in a clear and simple format to all levels of the business. Ability to translate business goals into concrete strategy and tactical plans. Experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across departments and geographies. Excellent communication skills (verbal/written), good interpersonal and leadership skills. Experience in building strong and collaborative relationships within internal IT partner organizations. Experience in negotiation and management of contracts and SOWs with third parties, internal Legal and vendor management teams. Working knowledge of MS office products & Jira.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment.

COMPENSATION

The current salary range for this position is $130,723.36 to $233,997.57. This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate; including experience, education, and location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.

The current range for this position is

$130,723.36 - $233,997.57
