Amazon Software Development Manager in San Diego, California

Description

You will be a Software Development Manager leading talented engineers working on designing and developing long term, scalable and high-impact programs within the Worldwide Grocery Stores Tech (WWGST) organization. You will be leading cross org e-Commerce enablement projects, inventory and availability management and Instore solutions.

We are looking for a highly talented manager to lead our software team in southern California. In this role:

  • You will own the software development lifecycle overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering and design to development, testing, and deployment.

  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams working effectively with product managers, designers, business, and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of features.

  • You will be leading a passionate group of engineers in architecting and developing large scale distributed technology solutions and also innovating new ideas and providing technology directions to our business.

  • You will champion best practices and innovation driving the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies within your team, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.

  • You will communicate technical decisions and progress to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • You will work on engineers career plans and help them grow.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
