Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$49.377 - $63.712 - $78.048

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Assists patients, staff and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to a designated patient population. Serves as technical nursing expert for assigned areas.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 Year RN experience in related clinical area.

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED

  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ambulatory care experience.

  • Successful completion of conscious sedation training and testing.

Essential Functions

  • Clinical expertiseExhibits critical thinking skills.Accurate documentation of all patient encounter data.Excellent IV skills.Prepares patients for treadmill stress testing.Monitors and documents patient data during treadmill.Administration of vasoactive IV medication.Measurement of multiple hemodynamic responses.Cardiovascular pathophysiology.Cardio pharmacology.Demonstrates ability to recognize 12-lead EKG abnormalities.Holter monitors.Monitors patient during periods of both stable and unstable hemodynamic events and documents appropriately.Has the ability to administer and monitor the infusion of vasoactive agents.Triage Messages - Listens to patients, collects pertinent information and assesses patient's needs, recognizes the urgency of the patient's problem, offers advice and recommendations based on approved protocols or routes to physicians, schedules appointments. Assists in ensuring telephone messages are returned. Clearly documents information in patient's clinical record or department logs.

Returns phone calls according to physician instruction. May schedule patient appointments.In partnership with physician, provides specific educational material and individual teaching.Uses universal precautions and demonstrates knowledge of infection control policies and procedures.Provides assistance to PSRs in resolving issues related to front desk responsibilities including scheduling and telephone management. Acts as a positive role model and ensures appropriate service delivery.Participates in clinical projects as directed by the physician or manager.

  • Department efficiency and effectivenessOrganizes and completes daily requirements and responsibilities.Able to respond to changing circumstances and prioritize patient needs.Responds to urgent and emergent situations in a calm and capable manner. Cost conscious in usage.Participates in and prepares for site inspections and inventories.Completes department inventories per guidelines.Enters authorizations and schedules surgeries and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.

  • LeadershipProactively works together with the lead and supervisor on team-development and departmental goals.Provides in-services to other staff, to assure all procedures are being done correctly.Actively participates in departmental meetings and training.Staff Training and Development - Assists in scheduling and organizing clinical and technical in-services, customer service in-services, mock codes, and pharmacy fairs. Provides ongoing clinical and service support and serves as preceptor/mentor for new nurses and other staff.Consistently pro-active in team development and in problem-solving to meet department goals. Actively and positively strives to implement departmental goals and supports changes. When acting as a charge nurse, is responsible for oversight of entire unit as related to problem-solving, service recovery and daily tasks. Additionally is responsible for control of patient flow, rounding on patients, coordination of staffing and keeping healthcare team, patients and nursing supervisor informed.Attends/Participates in departmental/unit activities such as meetings and training. Performs all other duties as required by supervisor and Patient Care Manager.

  • Nursing CompetenciesSuccessfully completes Nursing Competencies with a score of 90% or greater in each section = Great. Successfully completes Nursing Competencies with a score of 90% or greater on all but one section. Passed on retesting = Good. Unsuccessful in passing more than one section of Nursing Competency Testing and/or failed to pass testing on second attempt= Needs Improvement.

  • Quality initiativesCompletes Quality Assurance assignments and ensures overall department compliance with requirements.

  • Technical skillsDemonstrates knowledge of equipment and Information Systems applications.Able to activate emergency procedure per protocol - code, fire, etc.Documents patient care events in a thorough and accurate manner. Manages and completes AEHR tasks per prescribed time lines.Support and knowledge of new applications and policies: AEHR, Abbreviations, etc.Demonstrate typing skills proficiency by: Using a keyboard, required to type proficiently and accurately; Have the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors; Have the ability to proof work.Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements and support of front desk responsibilities.Able to operate and maintain department equipment.
