Job Description:

The Solar Turbines Customer Service Finance team is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support our Global Service Parts segment. This highly motivated individual contributor will independently perform accounting functions of normal to high complexity and provide timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis as directed by management. This position will work on challenging, medium-to-high risk issues and make decisions and recommendations as appropriate.

What you will do:

  • Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards

  • Create reports on financial performance for internal use

  • Upon request, take part in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests

  • Perform financial analysis to ensure compliance, integrity of account balances, and accurate financial reporting

  • Apply and provide guidance on complex accounting issues

What Skills and Experience You Will Need:

  • Education/Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business-related degree and 4-6 years of job related experience.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Managing Multiple Priorities : Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Accounting : Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.

  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

  • Adaptability/Flexibility: Being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or equivalent

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills; intellectual curiosity

  • Initiative, good judgement and accountability

  • Ability to resolve issues independently and take ownership of responsibilities

  • Experience with BaaN 5C / Infor LN / BMW / Smartview / Tableau and exposure to forecasting / budgeting / manufacturing / cost accounting will be helpful

Summary Pay Range:

$104,649.00 - $156,973.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
