Intuit Senior Accountant-Fixed Assets in San Diego, California

Overview

Intuit’s Finance team drives business growth and profitability through strategic, financial and operational leadership. Our team is comprised of finance, accounting, supply chain, corporate strategy & development and tax professionals that support and enhance Intuit's operating efficiencies.

This is an accounting role as a Senior Accountant with the Controllership, Assurance and Operations (CAO) organization. This position is located in San Diego, CA. It will be responsible for managing the end-to-end process for fixed assets and prepayments, producing general accounting conclusions and executing accounting requirements including journal entries, reconciliations, control performance, etc. A successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong accounting skills and the ability to think and act independently, who will take ownership of their areas of responsibility and demonstrate solid decision-making skills and the application of judgment in applying generally accepted accounting principles.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting with minimum of 4 years’ experience; Public Accounting experience CPA/MBA desirable; equivalent experience will be considered

  • Ability to be in the San Diego office at least twice a week.

  • Ability to manage complexity well and demonstrated experience managing across functions and businesses to accomplish large scale goals in a large, public company environment

  • Confidence, good judgment, energy and personality to work in a dynamic, multi-business unit environment across all levels of management and across business units and functions

  • Strong end-to-end process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills, time management, risk assessment and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to influence people indirectly and work with people in multi-functional roles

  • Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation and influencing skills, including the ability to raise issues appropriately to the right level internally and externally to resolve

  • Working knowledge of Oracle R12, Oracle R12 fixed asset module, Coupa, and reporting platforms such as Qliksense & Business Objects desirable

  • Strong PC, worksheet (excel, google sheets) and word processing skills

How you will lead

Primary function of this position is to oversee the accounting for fixed asset purchases and review the financial accuracy of Intuit’s purchasing process. This includes the accounting review and oversight for procurement of goods and services across a broad set of functions including marketing, IT, business units, HR, etc. This position will require strong fixed asset accounting skills along with general accounting knowledge across a broad set of topic areas including cost of revenue, opex, etc. Oracle R12 and fixed asset module experience is desirable. Moreover, position will require self-management and reporting necessary to instill confidence that accounting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Able to review contracts and statements of work, understand performance obligations/elements and assign the appropriate accounting conclusion and operational attributes necessary to support accurate financial statement classification

  • Work closely with finance partners, business partners and internal/external auditors on accounting matters

  • Stay current on evolving accounting standards, pronouncements, updates under prevailing regulatory bodies (FASB & SEC), and incorporate into current company policy as necessary

  • Continuous improvement of both process and tools used to perform job function

  • Participate in the month and quarter-end close process and related responsibilities for the accounting department

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain account reconciliations consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met

  • Establish and perform controls necessary to ensure that purchasing financial statement classifications are compliant with Intuit company policy and GAAP

  • Prepare and maintain reports/schedules for senior management, prepare schedules requested by internal and external auditors
