Job Title: Marine Electrician

Job Description

Repairs and hooks up equipment for all electrical services on the ship. Lays out, pulls, lifts out and installs cable and conduit. Prepares work area, drills holes and grinds metal surfaces, and welds mounting equipment. Tests electrical equipment. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position. Read composite blueprints, computer printouts and Navy standards manual. Removes scrap and performs general clean up. Other tasks as may be assigned relevant to the trade. Perform electrical repair and new construction aboard private vessels.

Hard Skills

• Knowledge of navy AC (60 and 400 Hz) and DC electrical systems

• Knowledge of Navy electrical and electronic systems

• Troubleshoot, disassemble, and inspect electrical equipment

• Clean electrical equipment and parts, reassemble, and operationally test equipment

• Knowledge of electrical systems such as switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, controls, etc.

• Use of common electrical measuring instruments, and various electronic measuring devices, such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, power analyzers and megohmmeters

• Familiar with the use of Precision Measuring Instrumentation

• Cable run fabrication and wire way fabrication
