Northrop Grumman Manager 2 Vehicle Engineering TRMC Range Hawk Lead / Vehicle Engineering TRMC Range Hawk Deputy Lead in San Diego, California

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Lead and Deputy Lead to manage and support the Vehicle Engineering (VE) TRMC Range Hawk program. These positions are located in San Diego, CA .

The Lead will report to the Global Hawk Vehicle Engineering IPT Manager and will interface directly with the Northrop Grumman TRMC Program office and Program Chief Engineer. Manager position is responsible for providing leadership and management support to a team consisting of between 40 to 50 Responsible Engineers. The candidate should have a systems-type knowledge of the aircraft, as this position will represent/lead VE in all engineering disciplines (Structural design and analysis, Installations, Harness and electrical power, Mechanical Subsystems, Avionics, and Guidance and Control). In addition, the selected candidate will interface with all other engineering teams such as Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Test Engineering along with Supply Change Management, Product Support, and Modification team. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of a major aircraft modification program. Knowledge of system level requirement development, systems specifications, subsystem integration, drawing development, aircraft modification, testing requirements, and contractual requirements. Cost Account Management (CAM) knowledge will also be required to ensure the program stays within program established cost and schedule.

The Deputy Lead will report to both the Vehicle Engineering IPT Manager and VE TRMC Range Hawk program lead along with interfacing directly with the Northrop Grumman TRMC Program office and Program Chief Engineer. This deputy role will be more plane-side focused, coordinating the rotation of engineers to the modification floor, and leading everything needed from an engineering perspective to keep the TRMC Range Hawk modification moving. This deputy lead Manager position is responsible for providing leadership and management support to a team consisting of between 40 to 50 Responsible Engineers. The candidate should have a systems-type knowledge of the aircraft, as this position will represent/lead VE in all engineering disciplines (Structural design and analysis, Installations, Harness and electrical power, Mechanical Subsystems, Avionics, and Guidance and Control). In addition, the selected candidate will interface with all other engineering teams such as Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Test Engineering along with Supply Change Management, Product Support, and Modification team. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of a major aircraft modification program and ensuring the aircraft maintenance is performed for safe flight. Knowledge of system level requirement development, systems specifications, subsystem integration, drawing development, aircraft modification, testing requirements, and contractual requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in a in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an ABET accredited university and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline from an ABET accredited university and 9 years of related engineering experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current, active DoD Secret Clearance.

  • Prior technical and subcontracts management experience

  • Demonstrated track record of leading a highly skilled team and suppliers in the design integration phases of air vehicle systems within schedule, labor and material cost requirements

  • Prior management and cost account management (CAM) experience including EVMS.

  • Experience with the design, development, and implementation of aircraft modifications.

  • Prior experience as a Vehicle Systems Lead.

Salary Range: $151,900 - $227,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
