THE ARC OF SAN DIEGO Independent Living Professional in San Diego, California

We are currently hiring Independent Living Professionals{rel="noopener" target="_blank"} to join our team. You will be teaching people with intellectual and developmental disabilities new skills and improving their independence. You will work 1:1 with several individuals to go to work, manage finances, grocery shop, attend medical appointments, parent, and grow in all areas of independent living. Your schedule will vary based on the support needs of the program participants.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 to $17.50.

A typical day will include:

Providing culturally appropriate direct support to individuals using person-centered approaches and strategies including:

  • Support and motivation to reach individual goals and objectives
  • Engage and facilitate meaningful activities that cater to the person's individual interest, preferences, and choices; teaching as necessary

Assists in accessing appropriate services, including employment services, medical/dental care, housing assistance, legal assistance, food banks, benefit programs (TANF, WIC programs, Social Security/Medi-Cal), and other community programs

Completion of electronic documentation prior to end of shifts

What you'll need to be successful:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 2 or more years of prior hands-on experience with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Valid CA Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Immediate access to vehicle with working seatbelts to transport participants
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
  • High comfort in using multiple computer /mobile device programs

We'd love it if you:

  • Are multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Tagalog)
  • Have experience with electronic case management systems (Therap)
  • Have experience with individual service plans (goal development)
