The selected individual must possess a strong understanding of prototype circuit design, small form factor PCBs, and SoC components hardware for use in embedded systems. This includes field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), digital signal processors (DSP), and data converters. The potential candidate must also possess a background in circuit board test and analysis to include power, thermal, mechanical testing procedures, test setup, and special test equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for supporting Electrical Engineering activities for space-related systems and sensors within a digital engineering environment. Primary responsibilities will include supporting requirements, decomposing high-level requirements, verification requirements management, integration and interface activities, documentation of design and development plans, decomposing and developing test requirements and technical performance metrics, and developing test artifacts for the execution of testing.

Some additional responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the lead hardware engineer, electrical engineers, signal processing, mechanical, and test engineers, to convey sensor design architectural details, software message interactions process flows, software architectural design layout, hardware placement design, and firmware control interfaces,

  • Design and integrate high-speed circuit boards to support a diverse array of FPGA applications.

  • Assist in developing and conducting trade studies for part and architecture decisions.

  • Develop hardware specifications.

  • Size FPGAs, and/or SoCs for signal processing algorithm implementation.

  • Develop FPGA firmware.

  • Work closely with a team of software, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure Leidos’ PCBs meet product requirements.

  • Perform integration and test activities to include developing tools and techniques for testing and verification.

  • Create product documentation and technical reports to include system requirements specifications, interface control documents, hardware description documents, test reports, and design reviews.
