How you will make an impact

The Director, Operational Excellence champions the establishment of a newly created Operational Excellence team focused on influencing and guiding leadership and teams to understand and apply lean principles and continuous improvement tools and techniques to improve our ways of working across all Operations and Corporate functions. In this role, you will lead various high-impact project teams aimed at designing and implementing new ways of working, building new capabilities, improving speed in decision making, and driving operational improvements in quality, speed, and cost, all while improving the colleague, customer, and patient experience.

In this role, youll have the opportunity to:

  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of Operational Excellence (OE) principles and practices to lead a variety of projects aimed at driving operational transformation and improvement across multiple functions.
  • Challenge the status quo and identify opportunities for improvement, chart the course for improvement actions, and take accountability for rigorous execution and delivery of improvement projects.
  • Collaborate and lead constructive debates with teams to prioritize opportunities, manage on-going projects, discuss challenging issues, and solve problems.
  • Develop and advance overall OE strategy and implement tools and systems that support continuous process improvement, enhance daily management systems, and drive culture change.
  • Form and lead a cross-functional OE extended team to extend the reach and influence of OE in the organization.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and day-to-day OE coaching to personnel to achieve expected business results.
  • Design and publish performance management reports and OE updates for multiple audiences, including executive level updates, team communications, and broad program updates for all Halozyme staff.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong cross-functional relationships and contribute to our positive environment while influencing teams across the corporation to adopt a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Build/improve business processes related to Operational Excellence.
  • Author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) describing essential functions.
  • Comply with established company policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety and environmental standards, and current Good Manufacturing Practices.

To succeed in this role, youll need:

  • BS degree in relevant scientific, engineering, or technical discipline(s) with 15 years experience in combination product cGMP manufacturing and/or technical area (an equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered).
  • Experience driving operational transformation and improvement in pharma/biotech/medical device business areas.
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead through ambiguity, take on challenges and multiple priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced matrix environment with cross-function l teams.
  • Skilled at leading through influence and experienced with mentoring and supporting others to achieve common objectives.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification with significant experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma process improvement in the device manufacturing industry preferred.
  • MS or MBA degree preferred.

The most likely base pay range for this position is $157K- $236 per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individuals exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
