BAE Systems Director, Finance - Ship Repair in San Diego, California
Job Description
BAE Systems Ship Repair business is hiring Director of Finance to lead the business financial operations to include financial planning, reporting, compliance, accounting, financial business systems, and corporate investments. This leader is focused on business execution and operational excellence and is responsible for executing our financial business strategy and the efficient growth of the Ship Repair portfolio. This role will include direct management of Finance Directors within each Shipyard, Accounting, FP&A, and Business Systems Finance leaders, as well as cognizance over all program finance, FP&A, accounting, compliance, business systems, and proposal estimating team members.
The Ship Repair Director of Finance is responsible for leading the Finance function (Shipyard locations include Norfolk, VA; San Diego, CA; and Jacksonville, FL). Responsibilities include developing, interpreting, and implementing financial concepts for the Ship Repair business area. This will include gathering, analyzing, preparing, and summarizing recommendations for financial plan, trend future requirements, and operating forecasts. Responsibilities include oversight of all Ship Repair Shipyards and achievement of financial salients to ensure overall positive financial performance. Prepare reports of findings and recommendations to management, monitor business performance by shipyard, and analyze financial performance, including comparisons of actual results to planed results. Mange the Finance department including creating a successful pipeline of talent within the Ship Repair finance function.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the businesses financial operations including bid strategy, program financial management, financial planning, developing and maintaining appropriate fiscal controls and standards, and preparing and interpreting financial reports.
Operate as a key business partner and work collaboratively with other business functions (inclusive of legal, contracts, supply chain, safety, security, among others).
Provide financial guidance and advice to the Ship Repair Senior Leadership team regarding capital investments, contract negotiations, risk and opportunity assessment, and other financial analyses.
Accountable for appraising operating results in terms of costs, budgets, and policies of operations, trends, and increased profit opportunities.
Safeguard the credibility and reputation of the enterprise by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
Foster innovative problem solving, performance excellence, and continuous improvement to deliver affordable, effective, and dependable solutions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline and 12 years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience
Experience in Financial Management/Leadership
Experience in Program Finance and Accounting
Experience in Aerospace, Defense, Maritime, or similar Manufacturing/Production industries
Experience in Finance Leadership for a Complex Business Portfolio
Experience in Strategic Partnership with Line Leadership
Experience in People Management/Leadership in a dynamic organization
Strong business acumen and proven leadership to drive attainment of financial metrics and key objectives
Demonstrated understanding of Manufacturing/Production, Program Finance, and Program Control processes and responsibilities
Demonstrated understanding of Financial Accounting (IFRS) and Government compliance regulations (FAR)
Ability to serve as a strategic partner for leadership and influence short and long-term business planning and decision-making
Ability to manage diverse stakeholders and challenge the status quo to support continuous improvement and further our competitive advantage
Ability to ensure compliance with complex Defense (DoD) requirements
Possession of excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to frequently travel between sites
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience in Shipbuilding, Ship Repair, or Maritime industries
Experience in Defense Contracting (DoD) industries
Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM)
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $196296 - $333704
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
