WHAT YOU WILL DO
Supports the Underwriters through analysis of underwriting, pricing, and analytics
Works closely with and shadows executive underwriters to learn all facets of reinsurance underwriting.
Works closely with all other disciplines including actuarial, claims, accounting, and legal to strengthen skill sets and develop relationships.
Gains knowledge and understanding of reinsurance underwriting and assumes limited underwriting responsibilities.
Develops deep understanding of reinsurance products and contract language and their impact to reinsurance underwriting decisions.
Under supervision, begins to produce and underwrite profitable business opportunities according to the ICW’s business plan.
Conducts research and in-depth technical analyses in the areas of underwriting, pricing, and analytics to identify problems and recommend solutions to stakeholders.
Utilizes actuarial techniques to discover patterns, insights, and trends in data and makes recommendations to improve the end product in order to achieve shared objectives.
Collects, aggregates, and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources that impacts reinsurance contracts.
Designs, builds, and tracks exposure and aggregations, data quality, and modeled loss estimates.
Participates in actuarial pricing of accounts.
Provides reports and strategic analyses to management regarding treaty and portfolio risk.
Creates monthly and ad-hoc reports for management regarding the current risk portfolio.
Assesses the risk of original policies and evaluates impact to reinsurance portfolios.
Reviews reinsurance treaties to verify that required clauses are included and all risks are properly priced.
Analyzes underwriting workflow, seeks enhancements and makes recommendations for improved efficiency.
Maintains and contributes to underwriting guidelines to mitigate risk.
Provides account management assistance to executive underwriters.
Processes assumed reinsurance contracts including data input into various contract management systems and ensures accuracy and validity of data.
Participates in team underwriting select reinsurance treaties.
Handles midterm account management activities and anticipates business needs.
Gathers information for new business and renewal quoting to assist underwriters in ensuring timely execution of contracts.
Assists accounting with accounting transactions.
Updates assumed reinsurance deal summaries monthly.
Processes NDA, TOBA and KYC requests.
Processes reinsurance submissions and maintains system(s) for accuracies and file updates.
Works with underwriting, actuarial, and operations to coordinate reinsurance deal workflow.
Works with Assumed Reinsurance management to support and track department projects, procedures, and tools.
Provides customer service to the Company’s clients.
Develops relationships with reinsurance brokers and clients to facilitate account processing and outstanding data items.
Communicates effectively via phone calls and email to gather and analyze necessary information critical to the assumed reinsurance underwriting process.
Builds a close relationship with clients, deeply understanding their portfolio, their demands and pain points and provides guidance on treaty terms.
Interacts with internal and external accounting departments to facilitate account processing and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Identifies workflow issues and recommends changes for process improvement.
Duties may include any reasonable Company- related assignments as directed by Management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university required with major or emphasis in Math, Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Actuarial, Business preferred.
Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Progression or completion of Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Assume Re (ARe) preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Understanding of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of Assumed Reinsurance preferred.
Ability to service the Company’s clients and maintain relationships with brokers. knowledge of actuarial and financial mathematics used in modeling and measuring risk a plus.
Strong computer skills with thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
Strong organizational, analytical and quantitative skills.
Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail is an absolute must, and a passion for high performance.
Skilled in performing complex numerical calculations and preparing management reports.
Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment and problem solving abilities to complete work assignments.

The current range for this position is
$74,932.01 - $126,367.76
This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
