The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for supporting the Director of Engineering in maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department at the hotel. The Assistant Director of Engineering must ensure the appearance and working order of the hotel meets the highest standards, including both the inside and outside of the building and the front and back of house. This person should be knowledgeable in HVAC, Refrigeration, and Electrical Engineering.

This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering and will support a wide variety of areas of the hotel including but not limited to the following:

• Assist with Mechanical, HVAC-R or Electrical needs.

• Delegate and assist with projects both large and small.

• Oversee, direct, coach and mentor colleagues in a constructive and positive environment.

• Plan and forecast needs of the day as well as long term.

The salary range for this position is $ 70,600 - $106,000. This is the pay range for this position that Hyatt Regency La Jolla reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.

Qualifications:

• Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English.

• 3 years or more of progressive hotel or building management experience (typically with Hyatt).

• Proven leadership experience.

• Engineering/Facility Management degree preferred.

• Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, and effective in providing exceptional customer service.

• The ability to work in a high paced and rewarding environment.

• Prior hotel experience is required.
