Position Summary
The Group Exercise & Fitness Programs Coordinator is responsible for the administrative oversight of land & water group exercise class offerings, including the support and supervision of instructors, ongoing assessment of fitness trends, class attendance statistics and other factors involved in creating monthly schedules. The Group Exercise & Fitness Programs Coordinator will ensure all equipment and supplies are maintained in relation to the classes and make recommendations for new purchases.
Essential Functions
Hire, train, and supervise instructors, including regularly observing performance and providing feedback.
Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.
Track and monitor attendance of classes and provide adjustments and/ or promotional efforts as needed.
Implement and manage a system for instructor sub requests and ensure efficient cancellation of classes when necessary, including canceling in the software and communicating with guest services and members.
Be prepared to guest-teach as needed.
Receive class feedback from staff and disseminate as appropriate to Athletics Management or Facilities.
Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
Ensure implementation of all policies, procedures and practices, and that these meet Salvation Army standards.
Maintain clear channels of communication with staff, volunteers and program participants.
Maintain a safe working environment. Report all problems to manager on duty or facilities.
Perform other assignments/duties as directed.
Adhere to RJKCCC operations and policy procedures as adopted by Administration.
Observe all safety rules and regulations.
Maintain confidentiality.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 40lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must comply with all applicable business, employment and copyright laws.
Must uphold and enhance public appreciation and trust.
Must be in good physical and mental health.
Must have the ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude in working with customers, clients, members and staff.
Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
Candidates preferred with at least one certification in a group exercise class format offered at the Kroc Center.
Candidates with Personal Training certification preferred.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
High school diploma or GED.
Competent in basic Microsoft suite: Outlook, Word, Excel. Comfort with learning reservation and customer database systems.
Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members and customers.
Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Maintain the confidentiality of all client information.
Maintain a drug and alcohol-free work environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with clientele and staff.
