Description

Our client is a national leader in affordable housing development and management, providing comprehensive services that span the entire property lifecycle. With a focus on building strong communities and enhancing the quality of life for residents, they manage a large portfolio across the US with operations in real estate development, construction, property management, and facility maintenance.

Position Overview: The Senior Property Accountant will play a key role in overseeing the financial health of a portfolio of properties, ensuring precise financial reporting and management. This position involves collaborating with various teams and external stakeholders to drive the financial success of the properties under management. Core Duties:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for a designated group of properties.

  • Offer financial insights and strategic recommendations to optimize property performance.

  • Handle general ledger functions, including preparing adjusting entries, accruals, and conducting account reconciliations.

  • Reconcile cash accounts monthly, including those for escrow, reserves, and property operations.

  • Coordinate accounts receivable and payable, ensuring efficient and timely financial transactions.

  • Lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors and internal teams.

  • Assist in creating and refining annual budgets for properties, setting realistic financial goals and benchmarks.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting or related area.

  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Yardi.

  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.

  • Excellent analytical skills coupled with the ability to identify and resolve complex problems.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification would be a plus.
