Position summary: JMT’s hands-on Internship Program provides opportunity to work on real projects with experienced staff in our San Antonio, Texas office. The Highway Design Intern will be responsible for various tasks and projects to enhance their industry and design experience.
Summer of 2025 Internship.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Create and make edits to engineering drawings and projects in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoTURN and other industry software
Obtain design data from other projects
Work within a team environment that focus on collaboration and training
Assemble data and research such as specific design standards and site information
Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals
Assist with layout and design of engineering projects
Develop and prepare specifications and construction standard drawings
Maintain accurate and current project documentation
Participate in weekly seminars and end-of-internship presentation through the JMT Internship Program
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required SkillsRequired Experience
- Full time student, rising junior or senior currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in transportation / highway engineering projects
Qualifications Preferred
Coursework in related field
Previous internship experience
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
