Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of a Texan.The Clerk III works either a 7 am - 4 pm or 8 am and#150; 5 pm shift depending on the need of the unit.Clerk III works under the direct supervision of the Unit Nurse Manager and performs as the unit clerk for assigned unit. Tasks include but are not limited to: filing in the medical record, answering phones and taking messages, preparation and faxing of aftercare packets, preparation of duty lists of movements, billing for appointments, billing from the Physician Daily Service Log, and preparing rosters for morning report. Performs chart audits when patient is discharged or transferred. Prepares closed records for Medical Records Department. May also prepare travel vouchers and order supplies for the unit. Works under moderate supervision, with latitude for decision making in carrying out routine phases of work such as when determining the importance of calls; whether to interrupt a meeting or take a message. Should know the schedules, whereabouts and phone numbers of each unit licensed professional staff. Must be able to use a headset as work may require mobility and absence from desk and the main unit phone must be answered. Must be able to use a computer, Microsoft office (excel and word) and various automated office equipment. Must be able to take PMAB/TIPS. Maintains up to date on all required training. Complies with Nursing services dress code.Essential Job Functions1. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.2. Answers telephones in a courteous manner, maintaining knowledge of licensed staff schedules and phone numbers. Takes messages for all unit staff.3. Filing in the medical record.4. Preparation of daily lists for movements. These daily lists are given to the treatment teams for report.5. Billing from Physician Services Logs.6. Billing for off ground appointments.7. Faxing aftercare packets to MHAand#146;s for aftercare appointments.8. Obtaining corrections and/or signatures for active records.9. Ensuring completion of active record through chart audits.10.Preparing closed record for Medical Records.11.Preparing travel vouchers.12. Ordering Supplies for the unit.13. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
