Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Work-Study Student to join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Bench Top Lab Scientist/Part-Time Research Vet Tech. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both laboratory science and veterinary research. The successful candidate will assist in conducting experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and providing support to ongoing research projects under the supervision of senior researchers and veterinarians.

Responsibilities

Lab Scientist Duties:

  • Prepare laboratory solutions, reagents, and culture media.

  • Assist in conducting experiments and performing assays following standard protocols.

  • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.

  • Assist in the organization and inventory management of laboratory supplies.

Research Vet Tech Duties:

  • Assist in the care and handling of research animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring health.

  • Prepare animals for procedures and assist during surgeries.

  • Collect biological samples from animals for analysis.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in Operating Room areas.

  • Assist in the organization and inventory management of all medical supplies.

General Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures in both laboratory and animal care settings.

  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.

  • Collaborate with fellow team members to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferences

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a major in Biology, Veterinary Science, or related field.

  • Strong interest in laboratory science and animal research.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Good communication skills.

  • Previous laboratory or animal care experience is preferred but not required.
