Applies skill and dexterity to modify and build fixtures necessary for R&D and specialized manufacturing process of medical device products, may also provide feedback in the design of new tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program, set up and operate specified manual equipment and/or CNC equipment, to create, refine, and repair parts, tooling, and/or devices including re-programming as needed to ensure continuity of machine operations in keeping with Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices; verify tolerances are as per drawing specifications upon completion of work while apply knowledge of processes in the use of machines to ensure successful outcomes, as well as to devise process changes in collaboration with Engineering

• On time arrival to work, regular attendance without excessive absenteeism, and working a full shift or longer work period

• Review work orders and priorities, follow and perform job functions in compliance with established work instructions and adherence with SOPs, review engineering drawings for completeness, verify work documents with plans and specifications

• Serve as a primary contact with third party providers to ensure needed materials and services are provided as needed for completion of machining work orders, maintain sufficient levels of work area supplies and equipment, including order materials when required

• Troubleshoot and recommend maintenance to limit downtime and keep production on schedule; perform preventive maintenance

• Provide coaching, guidance, and mentoring to other technicians on all aspect of parts machining

• Recommend tooling upgrades, changes, and/or additions to accommodate future needs to support customers

• Schedule and prioritize both preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure production continuity and optimal equipment operation, as well as performing troubleshooting as needed, including proposing solutions to maintenance team for resolution of downtime occurrences and devising modifications, and supporting work of lower level technicians on complex equipment and machines

• Identify and escalate potential tool and/or device issues, including formulating potential solutions in collaboration with Engineering

• Manage and/or coordinate workflow, including acting as primary interface with internal customers

• Other incidental duties: General work area housekeeping, attend procedural training, e.g., keep current with EH&S requirements and other local, state or federal compliance guidelines for machine operations

Education and Experience:

H.S. Diploma or equivalent 8 Years years experience machine shop environment, or similar work experience, along with a demonstrated ability to operate and program basic non CNC (basic) machining equipment Required

Associate's Degree or equivalent in Machining or trade school Preferred

Additional Skills:

• Good communication, interpersonal, and customer relations skills, including the ability to convey instructions and training, and effectively persuade and negotiate to drive achievement of objectives

• Ability to read and comprehend electronic/paper blueprint designs and specifications

• Demonstrated basic understanding of logic skills used in CNC or similar type controlled equipment, required

• Excellent CNC machinery programming and basic manual machining skills

• Able to read, comprehend and speak English

• General understanding of GMP and GDP supporting a medical device environment, preferred

• Adhere to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety guidelines as they relate to machine operation and manufacturing facilities

• Must be able to work with minimum supervision

• Work in an inter-departmental team environment, as well as with colleagues from other departments

• Ability to provide feedback in a professional, direct, and tactful manner

• Understanding of GMP and GDP supporting a medical device environment

• Strict attention to detail

• Full knowledge and ability to create, refine, and repair parts, tooling, fixtures, and/or devices

• Ability to analyze and interpret electronic/paper blueprint designs and specifications

• Ability to operate and program CNC machining, including re-programming to ensure achievement of desired output specifications

• Strong manual machining skills

• In-depth knowledge of material compatibility in the proposed use environment

• Ability to develop scope and work content based on submitted work specifications, in order to appropriately allocate time and resources

• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
