Job Summary

We are seeking dynamic, customer-focused individuals to join our team as part-time Starbucks Baristas at the University of Utah Campus Store. In this position you will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment for all customers while leading the barista team. You will oversee the preparation and serving of a variety of coffee and tea beverages, assist with food preparation, and ensure exceptional customer service. This position is part-time and ideal for individuals seeking set working hours with leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Greet and connect with customers, providing a friendly and efficient experience.

Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to Starbucks standards.

Assist in food preparation, including sandwiches, pastries, and other snacks.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the café area and equipment.

Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately.

Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for food handling and preparation.

Stay informed about Starbucks products and promotions to assist customers effectively.

Lead and mentor the barista team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Schedule shifts and manage team performance to meet store goals.

Handle customer complaints and provide solutions to enhance customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience in a related field, with two of those years working as a supervisor, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); knowledge of related trade or department specific equipment, systems and procedures. Demonstrated organizational, human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

At least 2 years of experience in a café or customer service environment.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.

Willingness to learn and adapt to Starbucks procedures and standards.

Availability to work set shifts as scheduled, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
