Job Summary
The University of Utah Division of Games is one of the highest ranked Game Design programs in the country. The job holder will help support the goals and objectives of the Games’ academic, research, and service programs. For further information, see the department website:games.utah.edu
The Division of Games follows current College of Architecture & Planning work from home policies.
Responsibilities
Performs complex accounting tasks such as preparing financial statements including balance sheets, cash flow statements and IRS reports. Reviews and analyzes general ledger account balances. Provides guidance to lower level accounting personnel.
Prepares University financial statements and reports, such as cash flow statements, pro forma reports, exception reports and IRS required reports.
Reconciles University bank accounts to University books and identifies variances so that corrections can be made.
Handles Pcard Audit coordination and corrections, monthly reconciliation and reallocating.
Manages department budget process.
Reviews large transactions for accuracy, sufficient funding and proper approvals.
Generates and manages eJournals.
Assists with year-end closing to ensure adjustments and accruals are properly recorded.
Answers questions, corrects errors, resolves accounting related issues and provides financial or other information as requested.
Manages department hiring and payroll
Supervises one lower level accountant

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus two years professional accounting experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices, knowledge of accounting software, advanced spreadsheet skills, the ability to write queries and macros and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills.
Certifications as a Certified Public Accountant may be preferred for certain positions.
Preferences
Knowledge of University systems preferred but not required.
