A Full-time Specialty Producer, Sports, KSTU is needed for a broadcasting company in Salt Lake City, UT.

The NHL is making its way to Utah and Scripps' Utah 16 (KUPX) is the team's broadcasting partner!  As we enter a historic sports season this Fall - KSTU, The E.W. Scripps Company FOX affiliate and second station to UTAH 16 in Salt Lake City, Utah, is looking for a Specialty Producer, to help lead our Sports coverage.   We are looking for someone to help us produce compelling local sports stories and shows for multiple platforms.  This producer will help conceptualize coverage plans, along with helping shoot, write, and edit content for our growing sports market!  It's a rare opportunity to be a trailblazer. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead creation of special sports broadcasts and coverage plans.

  • May lead special projects, conduct interviews, and enterprise original story ideas.

  • May create original story ideas or repurpose existing content to be showcased in a unique way.

  • Work closely with Multimedia Journalists (MMJs) in our sports department and executive producers as stories are produced for multiple platforms.

  • Work with editors to utilize graphics and other tools to visually enhance storytelling.

  • Write and edit scripts.

  • Shoot still and moving video.

  • Edit desktop video.

  • Conduct interviews or be called upon for field work.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience

  • Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred 

     

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and sports publishing/broadcast rights

  • Solid understanding and demonstration of multimedia file formats and strong computer skills

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws impacting operations

  • Knowledge and proficiency in posting content to television station websites

  • Must be a team player and adapt to developing situations quickly

  • Must be an excellent conversational writer with solid news judgement and a positive attitude

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Flexible work hours will be required, including weekends, evenings and holidays

  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
