Special Agent

The Utah Office of the Attorney General has an immediate opening for a Special Agent in the Investigation Division. Candidate must be a POST certified law enforcement officer with demonstrated ability to investigate complex cases. This is an entry level position until the successful candidate completes an 18-month probationary period. Incumbent conducts investigations focusing on an array of major crimes to include: Fraud and Financial Crimes,Human Trafficking,Public Corruption,Conflict Cases,and other major felony crime in violation of the laws and regulations of the State of Utah.  Incumbent works closely with and in support of Attorney General prosecutors.  Incumbent performs a full range of investigative assignments. Investigations typically include researching and gathering evidence,interviewing witnesses,and documenting the investigative process,with emphasis on financial transactions and business operations,concealing or facilitating criminal conduct.   Incumbent may be assigned in accordance with the needs of the division. A commitment to work in any investigative unit within the division is a condition of continuing employment. These units include the Special Investigations & Public Corruption Unit (SIPCU),Statewide Enforcement of Crimes of Undocumented Residents (SECURE) Strike Force,Cooperative Disability Investigations (CDI),and/or the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). Some assignments require investigations of the trafficking and production of explicit sexual images,including graphic and explicit child pornography. Such assignments require viewing of child pornography. Most assignments include irregular hours,night and occasional weekend assignments. Overtime work could be mandatory. Travel is required throughout the State. Starting salary is as follows: No degree = $40.96/hour Associate's Degree = $42.65/hour Bachelor's Degree = $44.34/hour Master's Degree = $45.67/hour
