Overview

The Open Banking, Distributed Systems and Networking team is looking for a Principal Cloud Network Engineer to help lead cloud infrastructure projects that consist of development and delivery of enhanced automation solutions as well as research into alternative technical solutions for changing business needs.

Role

• Successfully lead major projects and complex assignments with broad scope and long-term business implications.

• Assist with day to day system development and maintenance activities of the team to meet service level agreements (SLAs).

• As recognized subject matter expert, lead planning, design and implementation of technical solutions specifically in the area of AWS VPCs, Networking routes, Transit Gateway, and Customer Gateways.

• Create solution definition and solution architecture.

• Assist in examining commercially available and forthcoming industry technologies related to area of expertise.

• Research on current and upcoming technologies and application appropriate frameworks and provide recommendations to Management.

• Perform PoCs (Proof of Concept) and help Global Open Banking in the selection of Technology.

• Proactively create and maintain solution and technology road maps.

• Create detailed cost and time estimates for implementing business solutions, define technical scope and requirements of the project and assist project manager with managing scope during the lifecycle of the project.

• Assist in vendor selection and RFI/RFP process.

• Actively look for opportunities to modify and enhance standards per the needs of the department.

• Develop documentation templates, lead and enforce development of documentation through out the development lifecycle of the solution.

Knowledge / Experience:

• Advanced experience in related field, including advanced experience in delivering secure solutions in Cloud Native environments is preferred.

• Advanced knowledge and understanding of Software Defined Networking Concepts and Methodologies is required.

• Intermediate to advanced experience with Kubernetes and related container based platforms is required.

• Intermediate to advanced experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools is required.

• Intermediate to advanced experience with enterprise linux servers is required.

• Intermediate to advanced experience with Cisco Devices, Palo Alto, F5, or similar devices preferred.

• Demonstrate MC Core Competencies.

Skills/ Abilities

• Ability to be high-energy, detail-oriented, proactive and able to function under pressure in an independent environment along with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation to drive results.

• Strong communication skills -- both verbal and written – and strong relationship, collaboration skills and organizational skills.

• Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks and tools and support multiple concurrent activities and to interface with external / internal resources, working as a member of a matrix based diverse and geographically distributed project team.

Responsibilities

• Own complex problems having dependency across services and facilitate cross-functional team interactions to drive resolution

• Write code to build and enhance infrastructure templates, services, and platforms and promote code-reviews, code scanning, and other standard development practices to deliver high-quality artifacts to production.

• Drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs in working with product partners

• Identify opportunities and build roadmaps to enhance primary service/function

• Automate and simplify all aspects of cloud infrastructure implementation and development actively evangelizing the need to automate and simplify where needed.

• Drive seamless integration across all connected services to meet end-user expectations

• Drive blameless postmortems culture to identify root causes of incidents and implement learnings

• Introduce new technologies and architecture by following enterprise guidelines

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. Pay Ranges

Salt Lake City, Utah: $165,000 - $264,000 USD
