Job Summary

The University of Utah Health marketing specialist assists with planning, organizing, creating, and executing marketing initiatives that align with strategic goals set by executive leadership of hospitals and clinics and departments. These goals include—but are not limited to—achieving system-wide patient visit goals, creating awareness among target audience groups, enhancing visibility of specific services, and raising profile of the U of U Health brand.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  1. Establish positioning, research target audiences, set specific goals and objectives, and develop marketing plans to reach consumers through appropriate marketing channels.

  2. Gather consumer and market insight data to inform strategies, increase customer conversions, and generate more qualified leads.

  3. Conceptualize and execute on multi-channel campaigns across the consumer journey ensuring the alignment of messaging across all channels.

  4. Develop creative briefs to guide creative direction for marketing campaigns that meet objectives for all advertising and public-facing communications including digital, print, and video assets.

  5. Evaluate effectiveness and impact of marketing campaigns and strategies through evaluating key performance metrics and optimizing as necessary.

  6. Establish and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a collaborative working environment with the marketing and communications department.

  7. Plan, organize, and manage events.

  8. Adhere to project timelines by following through on project details and coordinating multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.

Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.

Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

  • Proven oral and written communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Digital marketing experience

  • Working knowledge of project management software, e.g., SmartSheet, Asana, Basecamp or similar

  • Budget tracking

  • Copywriting experience

  • Graphic design experience, particularly using Adobe suite

  • Experience creating finished presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Ability to prioritize and meet varying and oftentimes competing deadlines
