Job Summary

The Executive MBA program of the Eccles School of Business is seeking an Event & Program Support Assistant to help with program-related tasks. We are passionate about events, hospitality and giving premier customer service to our Executive MBA students and are looking for an employee who shares that passion.

This is for a non-exempt, PT job. This job is considered “essential,” and therefore it is required that the employee be on-campus, in-person.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is outgoing and has previous experience assisting or running events or working in a hospitality setting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a current University of Utah student. High school diploma or equivalency required

  • A passion for hospitality and events, and for striving to offer the highest-possible customer service level to our students, faculty and staff members

  • Detail-oriented, efficient, self-reliant, team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment to provide direct support to a full-time staff member

  • Ability to work in high-stress situations and without supervision

  • Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting

  • Professional phone etiquette and written and verbal communication skills

  • Professional attire required

  • Able to lift, carry, and move 20 lbs. and stand for an extended period of time in preparation for Executive MBA events

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, preparation and execution of dozens of events throughout the year with prospective students, current students and alumni. This includes event planning, preparing materials, coordinating activities, assisting with running events, event takedown and debriefing/iteration to improve the event in the future

  • Friday and Saturday (every other week) availability to support Executive MBA student class days. Shifts vary but generally are either 6:30 am – 2:30 pm or 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on class days. These are two-day events that occur throughout the entire year

  • General office duties such as front desk coverage, answering, screening, and transferring incoming phone calls, maintaining and ordering office supplies, and sorting and distributing mail

  • Communicating with prospective students over the phone, as well as in-person and through e-mail
