SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Coordinator, PACE College and Career Readiness (Temporary) SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
This is an on-campus/in-person position funded for four (4) academic years, with the possibility of continuation. Under general supervision, the Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) PACE Scholarship Program College and Career Readiness Coordinator will coordinate asset-based, student-centered programming to support first-generation and low-income students in partnering high schools within the Granite School District. The goal is to serve as a caring adult figure to help students graduate from high school and transition into college.
Key Responsibilities: 1. College and Career Readiness Workshops: Collaborate with direct Supervisor to plan and implement workshops, including Math space sessions to support math education and aid PACE Scholarship Program Advisors with college and career readiness programming.
*2. Outreach and Recruitment: *Develop and execute strategies to attract prospective students by building and maintaining relationships with feeder junior high schools.
3. Family and Community Engagement: Establish connections with parents, guardians, and the community to support current and prospective students in the program.
*4. Student Leadership Development: *Assist PACE Advisors in planning and providing a signature experience for PACE student leadership programs.
*5. Campus Tours and Educational Field Trips: *Organize visits and trips that enhance competencies such as self-efficacy, growth mindset, and sense of belonging.
As a member of the PACE Scholarship Program team, the College and Career Readiness Coordinator will benefit from a supportive team environment. College and Career Readiness Workshops:
- - Plan and deliver engaging workshops focusing on college and career readiness topics, tailored to meet student needs. - Design and facilitate Mathspace sessions to strengthen math competencies and support academic success. - Collaborate with direct Supervisor and PACE Scholarship Program Advisors to align workshop content with overall program objectives. - Assess the effectiveness of workshops through surveys or other feedback mechanisms and implement improvements. - Stay updated on best practices in college and career readiness to ensure innovative programming.
Outreach and Recruitment:
- Collaborate with direct Supervisor to develop comprehensive strategies to attract and engage prospective students from feeder junior high schools.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with counselors, teachers, and administrators at partner schools.
- Organize recruitment events, presentations, and informational sessions to promote program benefits.
- Create and distribute promotional materials tailored to varied student populations.
Track outreach and recruitment efforts, analyzing data to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
Family and Commu nity Engagement:
- Establish regular communication channels with parents, guardians, and community members to keep them informed and engaged.
- Plan and host family-focused events, such as orientation sessions and workshops, to encourage collaboration in student success.
- Partner with community organizations to provide additional resources and support for families.
- Act as a liaison to address concerns and foster trust between families and the program.
- Collect and respond to feedback from families to enhance engagement efforts.
Student Leadership Development:
- Assist PACE Advisors in designing and implementing a signature leadership experience for PACE leadership team participants.
- Facilitate workshops and activities that promote leadership ski ls, such as communication, teamwork, and critical thinking.
- Mentor and support student leaders in organizing peer-led initiatives and events.
- Evaluate the impact of leadership programs on student growth and adjust activities as needed.
Campus Tours and Educational Field Trips:
- Organize and coordinate campus tours to familiarize students with the college environment and resources.
- Plan educational field trips that align with program goals, emphasizing self-efficacy, growth mindset, and belonging.
- Manage logistics, including transportation, permissions, and safety protocols, to ensure smooth experiences.
- Partner with faculty, staff, and external organizations to enhance the educational value of trips.
- Gather feedback from participants to assess the impact of tours and trips and identify areas for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
