Position Summary
The Associate Sales Engineer (ASE) plays a crucial role in providing technical sales expertise for Class II infusion therapy medical devices, with a focus on IV Informatics, safety software, and infusion pumps. Working alongside a regional sales team, the ASE supports sales activities, product demonstrations, and technical proof-of-concept engagements to drive customer adoption.
This role requires a foundational understanding of healthcare informatics workflows, particularly electronic medical records (EMRs), as well as medical device integration, cybersecurity, network connectivity (WAN/LAN, TCP/IP), and relational database management. The ASE collaborates closely with ICU Medical's Device Sales Specialists, Clinical Sales Consultants, and cross-functional teams to ensure technical success throughout the sales process.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Sales Support: Assist in the sales process by providing technical guidance to customer teams and conducting product demonstrations for ICU Medical's connected IV systems and IV-EMR integration.
- Customer Engagement: Participate in sales presentations, customer calls, clinical trials, and reference site visits to ensure a seamless technical experience.
- Trade Shows & Events: Represent ICU Medical at conferences and trade shows, demonstrating product capabilities and addressing technical inquiries.
- Training & Education: Serve as a technical resource for the sales team, helping enhance their knowledge of ICU Medical's product portfolio.
- Proposal & RFP Support: Partner with Contract Marketing to provide responses to RFPs and RFIs related to hospital network connectivity, security, and EHR interoperability.
- Market & Competitive Awareness: Maintain expertise in ICU Medical's network-connected products and competitor s olutions to highlight key differentiators in customer discussions.
- Product Feedback & Innovation: Provide valuable customer and market insights to the global marketing team to help influence future product enhancements and innovations.
- Regulatory & Compliance Adherence: Ensure full compliance with ICU Medical's quality and regulatory policies while engaging with customers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences, including hospital CIOs and IT professionals.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a complex matrixed sales environment.
- Foundational knowledge of IT systems, including wireless networks, client/server applications, and cybersecurity.
- Preferred: Prior experience in sales, product demonstrations, or customer-facing technical roles.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university is required
- 2+ years' experience in IT/Networking
- Preferred: Experience in technical sales, product demonstrations, or customer support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, MS Project, and Visio preferred).
- Must comply with credentialing requirements, including COVID-19 vaccination, flu, etc. where applicable.
Work Environment & Travel Requirements
- Primarily a remote/home office role, with frequent travel (65%+ of the time) to customer locations.
- Work may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking, depending on customer needs.
- Must have a valid driver's license and comply with company driving policies.
- Occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
- May require international travel as needed.
