The Background Processing Specialist I conducts background screenings of applicants for a license,or for employment with a licensed/certified program,and determines if the applicant is approved or denied. Interprets statute and rules; understands and maintains confidentiality according to guidelines set forth by the Department of Public Safety and FBI. May coordinate with other divisions to process screenings for licensed/certified programs,employees,and other types as required by statute or rule. Responds to questions from providers or applicants in writing and over the phone to explain actions taken to applicants or programs; processes denial letters,appeals and may represent the State's interest in administrative appeals with the Office of Administrative Hearings.
