We are looking for an Advisor - Biological Resources to join the Rio Tinto Kennecott (RTK) Environment Team. Reporting to the Principal Advisor - Land Management, the Advisor - Biological Resources will support the development and coordination of short-term and long-term biodiversity objectives across Kennecott properties. The purpose of this role is to implement strategies to protect and enhance biological resources found across Kennecott's landholdings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Mitigate risks to the business and the community related to biodiversity and ecosystem services including but not limited to invasive species, critical habitat, and wildlife. * Serve as the local subject matter expert for matters related to biological resources. * Advise on revegetation efforts across mine rehabilitation. * Oversee Kennecott's avian protection program. * Guide and support Kennecott's weed management program. * Engage with land use partners to drive range management best practices. * Manage partnerships with universities, NGOs, and government agencies in the biodiversity space. * Support biodiversity studies, monitoring, and action plans to ensure compliance with Rio Tinto's biodiversity standards and government regulations. * Support Clean Water Act Section 404 (wetland) permitting and compliance. * Apply health, safety, environment, and community best practices to work activities. What you'll bring To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: * Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, natural resources, or related field. * At least 2 years of applied professional experience in a related field. * Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships to solicit, negotiate, and implement partnerships that minimize risk and create shared value. * Demonstrated ability to solve complex challenges. * Experience with environmental data, environmental regulations, range management, agriculture, and geographic information systems is preferred but not required. * Require strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges. * Strong verbal and written communication, developing trusting relationships, organization, and adaptability. * Ability to prioritize workload and balance the support of multiple matters with reduced resources is expected What we offer We are committed to providing our employees with a generous benefits package.
