SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Adjunct, English Composition/Integrated Reading and Writing SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Under general supervision, prepare and teach Introductory and Intermediate English Composition and other English courses as needed. Faculty member may be assigned to any SLCC location.

  1. Follows the English course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures and other classroom activities

  2. Uses the published Canvas development shells

  3. Keeps accurate classroom records

  4. Coordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures

  5. Answers student questions and provides necessary feedback on student progress

  6. Supports the Department of English, Linguistics, and Writing Studies (ELWS) assessment initiatives

  7. Meets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner, including submitting final grades on-time

  8. Completes all required trainings

  9. Demonstrates and supports professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values

  10. Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization

  11. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators
  12. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments
  13. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards
  14. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades
  15. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance
  16. Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines
  17. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment
  18. Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy
  19. Maintains professional and collegial behavior
  20. Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 12 business days)
  21. Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure
  22. Completes all required employee trainings
  23. Completes the ELWS department orientation annually
  24. Completes the Canvas User Credential within a semester of being hired
  25. Completes the Online Teacher Credential if teaching online classes
  26. Completes the Livestream Teacher Credential if teaching Livestream classes
  27. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines
  28. Provides ADA accommodations as requested
  29. Other job related duties as needed
