Summary

The Manager of Sales Planning and Strategy is Field Sales primary point of contact in the delivery of Customer Plans, Annual Brand Plans and represents Field Sales requests back into the commercial organization. Sales Planning is organized by the Field Sales structure to represent the voice of the Channel and Customer to the Brands and to connect the Brands to Customers and Channels. Sales Planning leads joint business planning across channels and accounts to deliver company objectives. Sales Planning works collaboratively across Category Management, Revenue Growth Management, and Shopper Marketing/Digital departments.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for alignment of strategic trade and brand marketing initiatives.

  • Responsible for ensuring the annual Customer Planning process is consistent ensuring that all organizational requirements are met from a timing and data integrity standpoint.

  • Accountable for the development and execution of customer businesses plans that meet brand strategies and deliver corporate growth, trade spend and profit objectives.

  • Accountable for clear Channel strategies representing marketplace requirements and emerging needs while accounting for the role of the brand in the channel.

  • Leads major cross-functional teams and drive collaboration between marketing, Field Sales, and other key functions.

  • Represent Sales Planning at brand team meetings to represent sales and provide direction and insight related to customers and brand performance.

  • Accountable for efficient management of workflow and information between marketing and Field Sales.

  • Provides direction to Revenue Growth Management for AOP and Trade Fund Allocation.

  • Ensures MAPS are accurate and deployed based on inputs from Revenue Growth Management and Category Management.

  • Develop and manage Sales Planning enablers (data, system, process, and capabilities) that facilitate effective and efficient planning across all channels and customers. Develops all sales materials to be customized by Field Sales.

  • Accountable for the development and deployment materials for the Sales Playbook.

  • Coordinates with Business Operations to insure timely and consistent flow of brand information to the field sales organization.

  • People Development – identify top talent, provide ongoing coaching/feedback, identify training needs to enhance skill sets, and conduct career path discussions.

Minimum Education and Experience Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Sales, or related field. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years’ experience with heavy emphasis on Trade Marketing, Sales Leadership, Field Sales and Sales Operations within a CPG Headquarters environment.

  • People Leadership Development skills and experience leading a large organization (5+ employees)

  • In depth knowledge of retailer go to market strategies and class of trade /channel dynamics

  • Demonstrated strong analytical, financial management, business acumen and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills)

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Syndicated Data, Trade Promotion Management

Position is in an office cubical environment.
