Summary

The Backhaul Dispatcher main responsibilities are processing receivables, processing OS&D, and customer relations for backhaul department. Other duties include creating and dispatching backhaul shipment. The Backhaul Dispatcher will be a key contributor in increasing backhaul revenue for the department.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• In conjunction with supervisor source and contract outside backhaul customers and meet set additional revenue goals set by the Director.

• Verify daily backhaul shipments are covered for the next day.

• Responsible for taking phone calls for backhaul OS&Ds and recalls and communications to the customer.

• Identify lanes for backhauls with managers and supervisors.

• Assist other backhaul dispatcher with creating and dispatching customer backhauls and communicating to the fleet dispatch operations .

• Stand in for or train a team member on any fleet dispatch domicile.

• Able to investigate and resolve issues within a team and independently.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Highschool diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

Prior transportation dispatch with 3 to 5 years in dispatch operation.

Experience Preferred

Prior backhaul experience

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

• Flexible work schedules (both days and hours) to handle weather, holidays, or other service disruptions

• 24 hours, 7 days a week on-call basis for matters involving customer service or safety of drivers

• Ability to travel to and from facility locations

• Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.

• Exposed to office equipment, outside weather conditions
